Sanctified art Thou, O my God! At this moment, one slave (mamluk) is standing before another slave and seeks, from him, his freedom. Yet his owner, himself, is naught but a slave of Thee, a servant in Thy Threshold, and absolute nothingness before the manifestations of Thy Lordship. Standing before Thee, I bear witness, at this very moment, to that which Thou hast testified by Thyself for Thyself, that verily Thou art God and there is none other God but Thee … All mighty kings are mere slaves before the gate of Thy grace, and all the wealthy are the essence of poverty in the shore of Thy holy dominion, and all the exalted are abject lowliness within the glorified court of Thy bounty. Notwithstanding this, how then can this slave claim for himself ownership of any other human being? Nay, his existence is a mere crime, graver than any sin in Thy kingdom … And now, O my God, since that servant hath asked from this servant his freedom, therefore, I call Thee to witness, at this moment, that I am setting him free in Thy path, liberating him in Thy name, and emancipating his neck from the chain of servitude, so that he may serve Thee in the daytime and in the night season, longing that my neck would never be relieved from the cord of Thy servitude. 00:00 this is the story of your enslavement 00:04 how it came to be and how you can 00:07 finally be free like all animals human 00:14 beings want to dominate and exploit the 00:17 resources around them at first we mostly 00:20 hunted and fished and ate off the land 00:22 but then something magical and terrible 00:26 happened to our minds we became alone 00:31 among the animals afraid of death and a 00:36 future loss and this was the start of a 00:41 great tragedy and an even greater 00:44 possibility you see when we become 00:48 afraid of death of injury and 00:51 imprisonment we become controllable and 00:54 so valuable in a way that no other 00:59 resource could ever be the greatest 01:04 resource for any human being to control 01:06 is not natural resources or tools or 01:09 animals or land but other human beings 01:16 you can frighten an animal because 01:19 animals are afraid of pain in the moment 01:22 but you cannot frighten an animal with a 01:25 loss of Liberty with torture or 01:29 imprisonment in the future because 01:32 animals have very little sense of 01:34 tomorrow you cannot threaten a cow with 01:39 torture or a sheep with death 01:41 you cannot swing a sword at a tree and 01:44 scream at it to produce more fruit or 01:46 hold a burning torch to a field and 01:49 demand more wheat you can 01:54 gets more eggs by threatening a hen but 01:58 you can get a man to give you his eggs 02:00 by threatening him 02:04 this human farming has been the most 02:08 profitable and destructive occupation 02:12 throughout history and it is now 02:14 reaching its destructive climax human 02:20 society cannot be rationally understood 02:22 until it is seen for what it is a series 02:27 of farms where human farmers own human 02:31 livestock some people get confused 02:36 because governments provide health care 02:38 and water and education and roads and 02:41 thus imagine that there is some 02:43 benevolence at work nothing could be 02:47 further from the reality farmers prove 02:53 health care and irrigation and training 02:57 to their livestock some people get 03:02 confused because we are allowed certain 03:04 liberties and thus imagine that our 03:06 governments protect our freedoms but 03:11 farmers plant that crops a certain 03:13 distance apart to increase their yields 03:16 and will allow certain animals larger 03:18 stalls or fields if it means they will 03:21 produce more meat and milk in your 03:26 country your tax farm your farmer grants 03:31 you certain freedoms not because he 03:33 cares about your liberties but because 03:35 he wants to increase his profits are you 03:40 beginning to see the nature of the cage 03:42 you were born into 03:47 there have been four major phases of 03:49 human farming the first phase in ancient 03:53 Egypt was direct and brutal human 03:55 compulsion human bodies were controls 03:59 but the creative productivity of the 04:00 human mind remained beyond the reach of 04:03 the whip and the brand of the shackles 04:07 slaves remained woefully underproductive 04:09 and required enormous resources to 04:12 control the second phase 04:17 was the Roman model wherein slaves were 04:20 granted some capacity for freedom 04:22 ingenuity and creativity which raised 04:25 their productivity this increased the 04:28 wealth of Rome and thus the tax income 04:31 of the Roman government and with this 04:33 additional wealth Rome became an empire 04:36 destroying the economic freedoms that 04:38 fed its power and collapsed I’m sure 04:44 that this does not seem entirely 04:46 unfamiliar after the collapse 04:51 of Rome the feudal model introduced the 04:53 concept of livestock ownership and 04:55 Taxation instead of being directly owned 04:59 peasants farmed land that they could 05:01 retain as long as they paid off the 05:03 local warlords this model eventually 05:07 broke down due to the continual 05:08 subdivision of productive land and was 05:11 destroyed during the enclosure movement 05:13 when land was consolidated and hundreds 05:16 of thousands of peasants were kicked off 05:18 their ancestral lands because new 05:20 farming techniques made larger farms 05:22 more productive with fewer people the 05:27 increased productivity of the later 05:30 Middle Ages created the excess food 05:32 required for the expansion of towns and 05:34 cities which in turn gave rise to the 05:36 modern democratic model of human 05:39 ownership as displaced peasants flooded 05:44 into the cities a huge stock of cheap 05:47 human capital became available to the 05:49 rising industrialists and the ruling 05:52 class of human farmers quickly realized 05:54 that they could make more money by 05:57 letting their livestock choose their own 06:00 occupations under the Democratic model 06:05 direct slave ownership has been replaced 06:07 by the Mafia model the Mafia rarely owns 06:11 businesses directly but rather sends 06:13 thugs around once a month to steal from 06:15 the business owners you are now allowed 06:24 to choose your own occupation which 06:26 raises your productivity and thus the 06:29 taxes you can pay to your mastress value 06:33 this time in your life kids because this 06:35 is the time of your life and you still 06:36 have your choices that goes by so fast 06:38 and you’re a teenager I think you can do 06:40 anything and you do your twenties are a 06:42 blur thirties you raise your family you 06:44 make a little money you think to 06:45 yourself what happened way 20s 40s you 06:47 grow a little potbelly you grow another 06:48 chin the music starts to get too loud 06:50 one of your old girlfriends in high 06:51 school becomes a grandmother fifties you 06:53 have a minor surgery you’ll call it a 06:55 procedure what is a surgery sixties 06:57 you’ll have a major surgery the music is 06:58 still loud but it doesn’t matter because 06:59 you can’t hear it anyway seventies you 07:01 and the wife retire to Fort Lauderdale 07:03 start eating dinner two o’clock in the 07:04 afternoon 07:05 if lunch around 10:00 breakfast tonight 07:06 before then most of your time wandering 07:08 around malls looking for the ultimate 07:09 soft yogurt muttering how come the kids 07:11 don’t call how come the kids don’t call 07:12 the eighties you’ll have a major stroke 07:13 you end up babbling of some Jamaican 07:15 nurse your wife can’t stand but you call 07:17 mama any questions your few freedoms are 07:20 preserved because they are profitable to 07:23 your owners the great challenge of the 07:28 Democratic model is that increases in 07:31 wealth and freedom threaten the farmers 07:34 the ruling class is initially profit 07:36 from a relatively free market in capital 07:38 and labor but as their livestock become 07:40 more used to their freedoms and growing 07:42 wealth they begin to question why they 07:46 need rulers at all 07:48 oh well nobody ever said that human 07:52 farming was easy keeping the tax law 07:58 not securely in the compounds of the 08:00 ruling classes is a three-phase process 08:04 the first is to indoctrinate the young 08:07 through government quote education as 08:11 the wealth of democratic countries grew 08:14 government schools were universally 08:15 inflicted in order to control the 08:18 thoughts and souls of the livestock the 08:24 second phase is to turn citizens against 08:26 each other through the creation of 08:28 dependent livestock it is very difficult 08:33 to rule human beings directly through 08:35 force and where it can be achieved 08:37 it remains cripplingly underproductive 08:39 as can be seen in north korea human 08:43 beings do not breed well or produce 08:46 efficiently in direct captivity ah but 08:51 if human beings believe that they are 08:53 free then they will produce much more 08:56 for their farmers the best way to 08:58 maintain this illusion of freedom is to 09:00 put some of the livestock on the payroll 09:02 of the farmer those cows that become 09:07 dependent on the existing hierarchy will 09:09 then attack any other cows who point out 09:12 the violence hypocrisy and immorality of 09:16 human ownership 09:22 officers positioned grant face-first on 09:25 the floor with one officer near his head 09:27 a second near his back and a third 09:29 officer standing nearby there appeared 09:32 to be a brief struggle then a two year 09:35 veteran BART officer stands draws his 09:39 weapon and fires freedom is slavery and 09:47 slavery is freedom if you can get the 09:52 cows to attack each other whenever 09:55 anybody brings up the reality of their 09:57 situation then you don’t have to spend 09:59 nearly as much controlling them directly 10:03 those cows who become dependent upon the 10:06 stolen largesse of the farmer will 10:08 violently oppose any questioning of the 10:10 virtue of human ownership and the 10:12 intellectual and artistic classes always 10:15 and forever dependent upon the farmers 10:16 will say to anyone who demands freedom 10:19 from ownership you will harm your fellow 10:21 cows the livestock are thus kept 10:28 enclosed by shifting the moral 10:32 responsibility for the destructiveness 10:33 of the violent system to those who 10:35 demand real freedom a very third phase 10:41 is to invent continual external threats 10:43 so that the frightened livestock cling 10:45 to the protection of the farmers this 10:52 system of human farming is now nearing 10:55 its end the terror 10:58 tragedies of modern Western economic 11:02 systems has occurred not in spite of but 11:05 because of past economic freedoms the 11:10 massive increases in Western wealth 11:12 throughout the 19th century resulted 11:13 from economic freedoms and it was this 11:17 very increase in wealth that fed the 11:19 size and power of the state 11:22 whenever the livestock become 11:24 exponentially more productive you get a 11:26 corresponding increase in the number of 11:28 farmers and their dependents the growth 11:31 of the state is always proportional to 11:33 the preceeding economic freedoms 11:37 economic freedoms create wealth and the 11:39 wealth attracts more thieves and 11:41 political parasites whose greed then 11:44 destroys the economic freedoms in other 11:49 words freedom metastasizes the cancer of 11:54 the state the government that’s 11:58 of the smallest we’ll always end up the 12:01 largest this is why there can be no 12:06 viable and sustainable alternative to a 12:08 truly free and peaceful society a 12:12 society without political rulers without 12:15 human ownership without the violence of 12:18 taxation and statism to be truly free 12:25 it’s both very easy and very hard we 12:31 avoid the horror of our enslavement 12:34 because it is so painful to see it 12:38 directly we dance around the endless 12:44 violence of our dying system because we 12:46 fear the attacks of our fellow livestock 12:51 but we can only be kept in the cages we 12:55 refuse to see wake up to see the farm is 13:06 to leave it
